Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance Coverage
What is an insurance deductible?
A deductible is the amount you pay for health care services before your health insurance begins to pay. For example, if your plan’s deductible is $1,000, you’ll pay 100% of eligible healthcare expenses until you have spent $1,000. After that, you share the cost with your plan by paying coinsurance.
What is the difference between medical & vision insurance?
At Eyesmate Vision Care, we generally accept both forms of insurance when applicable. Like any other medical practice, we’ll bill your medical insurance if you have a medical eye condition, such as red eyes, dry eyes, severe discomfort, or blurry vision (other than a prescription change). If the main purpose of your visit is to get glasses or contact lenses, we’ll prioritize your vision plan.
What’s covered by my glasses benefits?
Depending on the type of vision or medical insurance you have, the benefits may differ.
With Medicaid, if applicable, your insurance company would provide you with a basic pair of prescription glasses. For other vision insurances, you’re generally given an allowance for the frame and lens, but you’re responsible for any overage costs.
What are my contact lens benefits?
Some vision insurances cover the contact lens fitting and provide an allowance towards contact purchases instead of a glasses benefit. However, most medical insurance does not cover contact lenses unless medically necessary. Please contact our office for more information.
What if I don’t have insurance?
If you do not have health insurance or would like to self-pay, please contact our office for a special rate.
