Why Do You Need a Contact Lens Exam?

A routine eye exam checks your overall vision health, but contact lens exams measure crucial details that matter for wearing contacts. We evaluate the eye’s surface, the curvature of your eye, and the size of your pupils and irises to customize a comfortable fit.

A proper fit is essential for maintaining eye health, accurate vision correction, and comfort.

What to Expect at Your Contact Lens Exam & Fitting

A contact lens exam is a complete assessment of your eye health. Since contact lenses rest right on the eye, we carefully assess the eye’s surface for conditions that may affect contact lens wear, such as dry eye. We complete a series of tests, just like a routine eye exam.

Our approach is personalized. We take the time to understand your needs and preferences. We customize both your fit and prescription to help you feel comfortable and confident.

Trying Your Lenses at Home

After your initial fitting, we’ll send you home with a trial pair of contact lenses. Testing your lenses in your everyday routine can help you assess their performance and comfort.

For first-time users, we can provide training on proper insertion and removal techniques. This training can take about an hour and focuses on helping you feel confident with your lens care

We always schedule a follow-up appointment within a week to discuss your overall experience and evaluate your eye health. We can answer any questions you have or adjust your fit if necessary.

We can finalize the prescription and order your lenses when you feel satisfied with your fit.

Specialty Lenses for Customized Quality

Contact lens design has made significant advancements, allowing a wide range of patients to enjoy glasses-free vision correction. However, standard contact lenses may not be the best fit for everyone. For some patients, specialty contact lenses can offer unique features or additional support for patients with eye conditions.

We offer both standard and specialty contact lenses to help more patients achieve convenient and comfortable vision correction. We take pride in providing tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of every individual.

Scleral Lenses

Vision correction can be challenging for patients with corneal conditions like keratoconus or dry eye. That’s where scleral lenses come in.

Unlike standard contacts, scleral lenses are larger and rest on the sclera (instead of the more sensitive cornea) for enhanced comfort. The firm material also provides sharper vision correction. This innovative design creates a cushion of moisture between the lens and the eye’s front surface, promoting healing and alleviating irritation caused by debris or dryness.

Orthokeratology (ortho-k), a type of corneal refractive therapy (CRT), is a method of corneal reshaping. Similar to how braces improve the placement of teeth, ortho-k lenses reshape the eye’s surface (cornea). The lenses are worn overnight, gently improving the cornea so light can focus correctly inside the eye. Then, the lenses are removed in the morning, allowing for clear vision without glasses.

We use ortho-k lenses from Paragon Vision Sciences, Moonlens, Euclid, and Global OK-Vision (GOV).
