How often your child needs an eye exam depends on their age, eye health, and vision needs.
The American Optometric Association recommends that children have exams:
- At least once between 6–12 months of age to establish a baseline
- At least once between ages 3–5 to check on their visual development
- Annually starting before first grade and continuing until adulthood

At any point during the exam, we always have time to answer any questions you or your child may have before, during, and after the exam process. We also provide in-depth education for you and your child so you can practice maintaining healthy vision at home.
